Custom kraft gift boxes

Rigid construction is the difference between packaging that gets recycled and packaging that stays on a shelf. Greyboard core, kraft paper wrap, and an insert that holds the product exactly where you placed it.

A kraft gift box is a rigid box built from greyboard wrapped in kraft paper, most often as a two-piece lid-and-base or a magnetic-closure folding rigid. It does not collapse flat, and it is the format used where the box is expected to be kept.

Two-piece versus magnetic closure

A two-piece lid and base is the classic gift box: a separate lid lifts off a fixed base. It costs less, and it ships assembled, which means it takes real volume in transit and storage.

Magnetic-closure rigid boxes ship flat and fold up, so they cost less to freight and store, but the unit price is higher and the fold lines are visible on the inside. For anything above a few hundred units the freight saving usually makes the magnetic style the cheaper total.

Inserts

A rigid box without an insert is a box with a product rattling in it. Moulded pulp is the sustainable default, made from the same recycled fibre as the box and recyclable in the same stream. Foam holds tighter tolerances but is not paper-recyclable.

Die-cut corrugated inserts sit between the two: cheap, recyclable, and adequate for anything that is not fragile.

Gift boxes questions

Do rigid kraft gift boxes ship flat?

Two-piece lid-and-base boxes ship assembled and take real volume. Magnetic-closure rigid boxes ship flat and fold up on your end. If freight and storage matter, choose magnetic.

Can foil stamping work on natural kraft?

Yes, and it is one of the few finishes that gains from the brown substrate. Gold and copper read especially well against kraft. Silver and holographic can look cold against the warm base.

What insert should I use?

Moulded pulp if you want the whole pack recyclable in one stream. Die-cut corrugated if cost matters more than fit. EVA foam only where the product needs a tight tolerance and you accept that the foam is not paper-recyclable.
